“When your mind takes you somewhere sad, dark, doubtful, or negative, you don’t have to go with it.”
It is such a simple but utterly profound statement that completely captured me this morning.
Isn’t amazing that although we can know that we don’t have to think or dwell on negative thoughts we often find ourselves looking back after seasons of depression, anger, frustration ( or whatever your season is ) and realize all the dumb thoughts that lead us there.
We are suddenly blindsided by the reality that our thought life has been robbing us of all the joy that we should have been currently experiencing. Ever felt robbed by your thought life?
Ever noticed that most of the thoughts that you have been stuck in, the ones that brought you to that dark and joyless place were really inaccurate of your reality? They were more of a lie that you believed than a truth. We can easily get caught up in thoughts that lead us away from truth and reality if we are not taking every thought captive and processing it against what we know is true.
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:5
Today take a moment and ask yourself, “Have I been following thoughts in a direction that isn’t aligning with the truth of in my life?”.
Take charge over your thought life! You don’t have to be victim to your thoughts. Begin today to take every thought captive and give it to the one that can give you the truth, Jesus.
Happy thought life! – Shaun Kono
